Among the many gifts that our Creator has given us is Salat al-Istikharah (the prayer of Istikharah). The word istikharah comes from the original Arabic word khair, which signifies everything well. Istikharah comes from the pattern of a verb which means ‘to seek something good’. The term Istikharah means ‘seeking Allah’s guidance, wisdom, help, supervision, counseling, goodness and blessings’.
Sahi Hadith
According to Sahi Hadith written in Bukhari Sharif, Volume 2, Book 21, range 263:
Reported by Jabir bin Abdullah : The Prophet (S.A.W) used to teach us the method of doing Istikhara, in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the quran. He said, If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a 2 Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):
